Project 085 - Biblical Training for Christian Leaders in Kenya

Injili Bible Church – where the training takes place!

100% of all donations to this project go to the biblical training of christian leaders in Kenya. All costs and administration expenses are met from a separate fund and/or ‘Gift Aid’ contributions.

Dear Friends

Injili Bible church was planted in June 2008. It has been established in the heart of the second largest slum in Nairobi, Kawangware. This slum has over half a million people, all needy in physical terms but also in great spiritual need. There are many churches in this area, yet sadly, their leaders and Pastors have limited, if any, Biblical training. Hence, the teaching which local Christians are receiving, can be quite shallow and sometimes incorrect. As well as being a new witness and outreach to the local area, Injili Bible church is seeking to train and build up existing, plus potential, Pastors and church leaders.

The initial Biblical training course will run for 10 weeks and will deal with key doctrines in the four Gospels. There will also be instruction on practical issues such as sermon planning, sermon delivery, counselling a bereaved person, taking a wedding, etc. Students will be guided and involved in street evangelism, door-to-door work, leading Sunday services and preaching.

The teachers conducting the course are well taught men with many years of missionary and Biblical training experience in Kenya.

The courses will be offered for free to the Pastors and church leaders, many of whom rely on their wives to bring in a regular income. The students will use a number of sound books for research and study during the course. If they complete the course, these Reformed books will then be given for free to the students, for them to begin their own library. Books and training materials for each 10 week course will cost approximately £50 per student. Many of these church leaders are desperate to serve the Lord but have little training and development opportunities. Injili Bible church is seeking to support and provide spiritual teaching for these men.

This project is visited 4 times a year by UK representatives. They also receive a weekly email, updating them on current progress and issues. All donations given to this project are put into the care of the UK representatives who guarantee that 100% of it is spent on the training materials for these Kenyan Christians.

Please pray for the Pastors and church leaders of Kenya, that they will be given a deeper understanding of the great truths of God’s word and a desire to see their own congregations drawn closer to our blessed Saviour.
