Dear Friends For the year 2005 Siloam received donations and gifts to the value of £343,493.00. We also received 'Gifts in Kind' valued at £1,827,022.00 which were delivered to the Philippines and Portugal representing 82.66% of our income. Siloam's overall total income for the year amounted to £2,210,468.00. Siloam spent a total of £2,123,657.00 on actual charitable expenditure. We only spent 3.87% on fundraising and publicity and a further 2.33% on management and administration. The charts below show you this more graphically and the figures are taken from our recently published 2005 audited accounts which are available to you if request them although we would appreciate a donation of £5.00 to cover the cost of printing the 20+ pages which make up the whole report, and postage. But, most of us have problems in reading accounts as they are presented today so unless you are an auditor or a bookkeeper, you may find the figures we have shared with you in this publication easier to understand. When Siloam first began its operations back in 1982 and for the first 15 years or so, most of our donations were received directly in the post. These came in the form of cheques, postal orders and cash but this trend has now been reversed as 28.39% of our donations actually come via the bank through Standing Orders. In 2005 6,500 gifts were received in this way often by supporters who have Standing Orders with us so they can give monthly, bi-monthly, quarterly or at other times of the year towards child sponsorship programmes etc... Our direct mail campaigns throughout the year provided a good income of £134,798.00. This represented 39.26% of our donations total and the 3,596 responses to the 12 editions of our newsletter translated into a response rate of 5.89% which meant that it cost Siloam 14 pence to raise each Pound by this means. Following our statement of income and expenditure, we have tried to show you the different projects we have supported with your generous donations which we trust will be of financial interest and also to give you focus points for prayer in the future.
