Project 037 - Children's Bible Camps

Pastor Peter Bevz's camp in the Ukraine attracts up to a hundred children and his camps are usually held under canvas. Many of the children are badly malnourished as the area is still suffering with radioactive poisoning caused by the explosion from Chernobyl in 1986.

The main aim of every Siloam's Bible camp is to bring children into a personal relationship with the Lord Jesus Christ. Our goal is to prevent children embarking on a life of crime or becoming addicted to alcohol tobacco and more harmful drugs.

Interesting Bible studies tailored towards the understanding of children in each country according to their age. This group in Poland learn valuable Bible lessons relevant to today's world.

Finding a sweet in a bowl of flour with just your mouth may be just a silly game. But, our aim is to teach children to discover the truth of the Bible and to find out how a confrontation with Jesus Christ can change their lives and make them into positive upright citizens.

And, there is time for silly games like trying to feed your companion with yogurt while you yourself are blindfolded.

Much attention is paid towards the memory of scriptures. During the evening meetings in Bulgaria, as in other countries, children are encouraged to recite the Bible verses they have memorised.

Every year more children give their lives to Christ when they are given the opportunity at the final meeting of the camp. Your gift will help rescue another child from a certain christless eternity.

Reflection, repentance and reconciliation.
Siloam's Bible camps for Eastern Europe's deprived children, and Portugal too!

Train up a child in the way he should go, and when he is old he will not turn from it. - Proverbs 22:6

Dear Friends,

It’s because we know that most Christians come to faith before the age of 21, that we believe it’s so important to reach the hearts and minds of young people before their lifestyles are moulded. We maintain that there is no better way to prevent a young person from experimenting with drugs, becoming addicted to alcohol or embarking on a life of crime than by confronting them with the truth of the gospel message of Jesus Christ. Girls can also be steered away from the easy money gained from childhood prostitution as well. Each summer since 1984 Siloam has sponsored Bible camps for underprivileged children in Europe. Using a tried and tested formula, each camp provides an opportunity for a child or young person to be away from their negative home surroundings and shows them in a practical way what the Christian lifestyle is all about. Siloam sponsored camps provide good food, challenging physical activities, enlightening Bible studies and rich Christian fellowship. It’s also an opportunity for believing young people to invite their unconverted friends to examine the practicalities and claims of the gospel.

Physical activities include walks in the forest, trips to the beach or the river as well as football, basketball, volleyball and other team games.

The day begins early with a prayer time before breakfast followed by Bible study, physical activities then lunch. After a brief rest, the children are taken on long walks or to the nearby pool if they are far away from the sea. Following tea, the youngsters have the opportunity to take part in the evening meetings during which they perform dramas which they have learnt which portray Biblical themes. Children are encouraged to learn Bible memory verses, others share musical talents to the enjoyment of others. After supper, the kids usually retire to bed sufficiently tired so as not to cause the counsellors and camp officers any night time concerns!!

But, these camps cost money and they are paid for by Siloam supporters just like you who read our literature from time to time and after prayerfully considering the merits of our ministry, give generously.

It costs £35.00 to send a child to camp in the Ukraine which is held under canvas run by the Baptist Church in Chernigov. In Bulgaria, Pastor Peter Georgiev uses low cost ‘hotel’ accommodation at Voneshta, a good central location for many church groups to send their children. Bible camps in Portugal and Bulgaria cost about £70.00/£80.00
Pastor Marek Ciak in Poland will choose a venue in the forest and Oscar Segura, Minister of the Assemblies of God Church in Malveira, Portugal will use a camp site on Portugal’s Atlantic coast.

In Slovakia if funds permit, we will assist young people to have special youth camp in the Tatra Mountains where they will be physically challenged with the great outdoors.
This month we really need your support. Gifts of £10.00, £20.00, £50.00 & £100.00 will be most welcome and let our co-workers have the resources to reach their own young people from deprived backgrounds with the gospel of Jesus Christ.

Expenses are many including transport, water, laundry, food, accommodation etc… so please stand with us and help Siloam provide the financial resources needed by our co-workers in Portugal, Poland, Ukraine, Bulgaria and Slovakia.

What more can I say, please pray before you give, your gift could just make it possible for another deprived child to enjoy a time away at one of our children’s Bible camps.
Yours sincerely
